‘we leave open the possibility’: Tottenham handed boost in their pursuit of 16-goal star

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Genoa striker Albert Gudmundsson at the end of the season.

The Icelandic international has 16 goals and four assists to his name in all competitions and his performances have attracted the attention of the top clubs. He has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in recent months.

Genoa President Alberto Zangrillo has now confirmed that the Italian outfit are open to selling the player for the right price. He admitted that Gudmundsson is an ambitious player and Genoa will not be able to match up to his ambitions right now, and they are open to the possibility of selling him in the summer.

He said (h/t FCInterNews): “He’s a young, serious guy, who wants to cultivate ambitions that we are not able to guarantee at the moment. There is no denying it. He has a national and international market It is correct that both parties make evaluations, what matters is the final result.

“I don’t deal with these things, we let the player dream and we leave open the possibility of operating correctly on the market. We have learned to love to our boys, we can make good operations and think that in a few years Albert will be able to say ‘if it wasn’t for Genoa I wouldn’t be here'”.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can secure an agreement with the Italian club. The two clubs recently worked on the transfer of Radu Dragusin during the January transfer window and it is fair to assume that Tottenham will have amicable terms with the Italian outfit.

Gudmundsson will want to compete at the highest level and the opportunity to join Tottenham will be an exciting one for him. He will look to test himself in the Premier League and establish himself as a key player for the club if the transfer goes through.

Tottenham are in desperate need of quality striker and the 26-year-old could lead the line for them next season. They have missed a reliable goalscorer since the departure of Harry Kane.

The Icelandic international is at the peak of its powers right now, and he could make an immediate impact in English football. He has the physical and technical attributes to thrive in the Premier League and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
