It’s no secret that Casemiro has struggled while deputising for his sidelined teammates at centre-half, but he proved vital tonight when stopping a guaranteed goal for Newcastle United.

A well-drilled attack from the Magpies led to stalwart Dan Burn being able to head on target from an inch-perfect Jacob Murphy cross.

Manchester United’s backline was left scrambling to get in position in the overcrowded area, with Andre Onana unable to get a glove on Burn’s attempt.
