Canucks won't have linchpin forward for Game 7 vs. Oilers

The Vancouver Canucks will not have one of their top players for Game 7 of their second round Western Conference playoff series against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night.

According to multiple reports on Sunday, forward Brock Boeser is going to miss the game due to blood-clotting issues. It is being reported that while the issue is not life-threatening or career-threatening, it is enough of an issue to keep him out of the lineup.

There is no timeline at this moment for his potential return. 

Boeser's loss is a massive blow to the Canucks lineup as he has been one of their best, most productive players this regular season and playoffs.

Through the Canucks' first 12 playoff games Boeser already has seven goals and five assists (for 12 total points). During the regular season he posted a career year that saw him score 40 goals with 33 assists for 73 points.

Boeser is also not the only key player the Canucks are likely to be missing in Game 7.

They have been without starting goalie Thatcher Demko since the first round and have been using third-string goalie Arturs Silovs.

If they get through Edmonton in Game 7 without both Boeser and Demko — along with a struggling Elias Pettersson who has scored just one goal in the playoffs — it would be an impressive accomplishment. 

The winner of Monday's game will play the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final.
