Taylor was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 21, two days after he went down with a left hamstring injury during the team's Week 2 loss against the Cleveland Browns. The 32-year-old returned to Texans practice on Oct. 27 but didn't suit up in Week 8.
In his one-and-a-half games this season, Taylor completed 31 of his 44 pass attempts for 416 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Houston defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 37-21 in Week 1 but since then has lost seven in a row.
In Taylor's place, rookie quarterback Davis Mills has completed 67% of his passes with seven touchdowns and eight interceptions.
The Texans are scheduled to face the Miami Dolphins at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
