New York Jets reportedly showing interest in major sleeper quarterback

The New York Jets don’t need a quarterback heading into 2024. That much we know.

Aaron Rodgers will be under center for the Jets come Week 1, and so long as he has fully recovered from his torn Achilles, he will have New York in good hands next season.

However, Rodgers is 40 years old, and he has a very severe injury now in his rearview mirror. Plus, his contract expires at the end of 2025.

Taking those things into account, the Jets may want to consider drafting a quarterback this year in order to potentially set themselves up for the future once Rodgers is gone.

It seems like New York is thinking of going that route.

Bleacher Report’s Ryan Fowler has reported that Gang Green is hosting Tulane quarterback Michael Pratt for a visit this week and adds that Fowler is expected to be selected in the middle rounds of the NFL Draft.

Pratt put together an impressive four-year run at Tulane.

He initially joined the school back in 2020 and started right off the bat, throwing for 1,806 yards, 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 55.1 percent of his passes.

The following season, Pratt showed improvement, totaling 2,390 yards, 21 touchdowns and eight picks while completing 57.8 percent of his throws.

Pratt then took a significant jump during his junior campaign, registering 3,009 yards, 27 touchdowns and five interceptions, completing 63.6 percent of his passes. He proceeded to throw for 2,406 yards, 22 touchdowns and five picks while completing 65.4 percent of his tosses during his senior year.

Additionally, Pratt racked up 1,147 rushing yards and 28 rushing touchdowns throughout his collegiate career.

The Jets can draft Pratt and have him learn under Rodgers for a couple of years before eventually unleashing him. It might be a wise strategy.
