Yadier Molina lands notable job in baseball

Yadier Molina couldn’t quit the St. Louis Cardinals for long.

The Cardinals announced on Wednesday that the franchise legend is returning to the team as part of their front office. Molina will be serving as a special assistant to president of baseball operations John Mozeliak.

Katie Woo of The Athletic reported earlier this week that Molina would indeed be returning to the Cardinals but not in a full-time capacity as he has family priorities in his native Puerto Rico.

Molina, 41, is an all-time great Cardinal, having played his entire 19-year career in St. Louis. He made 10 All-Star teams, was one of the best defensive catchers ever (winning nine total Gold Gloves) and had a major hand in the Cardinals’ World Series titles in 2006 and 2011.

After the 2022 MLB season, Molina finally decided to retire. He was a man of many underrated talents during his playing career and will now be taking his prowess to the front office of his beloved former team.
