Washington Nationals' CJ Abrams and Dom Smith Go Viral For "Water Cup Challenge"
USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Nationals are in a rebuilding year, that's for sure. Since winning the World Series in 2019, the team has traded away Max Scherzer, Trea Turner, Josh Bell and Juan Soto.

The Nats entered play on Thursday at 9-14 on the season and in last place in the National League East, but that doesn't mean you can't have a little fun as an organization.

And that's exactly what young Nationals CJ Abrams and Dom Smith did in a video that has now gone viral.

In this video, posted by @Cut4, the two players were seen competing in the "water cup challenge." The point is to take a seemingly full cup of water and keep pouring water into it, seeing who can pour water in before the water eventually spills. You can watch the video below:

So Smith got the win, with the best part of the video being when Abrams asks where the water is going.

A good question indeed, CJ.

Abrams was acquired by the Nationals last season in the deal that sent Soto and Bell to San Diego. He's hitting .222 this season with two home runs and 13 RBI. He also has three stolen bases. He made his major league debut in 2022 and is a career .241 hitter with four homers and 34 RBI.

As for Smith, he was originally with the New York Mets, spending 2017-22 in Queens. He's a career .245 hitter who is hitting .232 with the Nationals this season.

At the time of this posting, the Nationals and Mets are tied at 8-8.
