Jake McCarthy is Reportedly Drawing ‘Strong Interest’ from Multiple Teams
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier this offseason, the Chicago White Sox were presented with a choice between Dominic Fletcher and Jake McCarthy in a trade that sent Cristian Mena to the Diamondbacks.

The White Sox picked Dominic Fletcher, but now, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, multiple teams have expressed “strong interest” in the 26-year-old outfielder.

While Nightengale acknowledged that the Diamondbacks have swiftly rejected all offers from other teams, he suggested that circumstances might change this summer depending on their position.

Nightengale stated, “The D-backs have rebuffed all offers so far, but he could become available at some point this summer if they find themselves short on space on their 26-man roster.”

McCarthy, who was drafted in the 1st round of the 2018 draft by the Diamondbacks, finished 4th in National League Rookie of the Year voting in 2022 after posting a .283 batting average and a .769 OPS.

Unfortunately for McCarthy, the Diamondbacks already boast a solid starting outfield lineup consisting of Corbin Carroll, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., and Alek Thomas. They further strengthened their outfield depth by adding Joc Pederson and Randal Grichuk this offseason.

Last season, McCarthy played in 99 games, matching his 2022 total, with 77 starts among those appearances in 2023.

Stay tuned for further updates.
