Top Penguins Prospect Records Pair of Shorthanded Goals
USA TODAY Sports

Brayden Yager is has quickly emerged as the top prospect in the Pittsburgh Penguins system, and ever since leaving NHL training camp, he’s been living up to his potential.

After the Penguins sent Yager back to his Western Hockey League team, the Moose Jaw Warriors, he’s been on offensive powerhouse.

Most recently, Yager found ways to score in all areas of the game by recording a pair of short handed goals.

Yager’s first shorty opened the scoring for the Warriors against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Jagger Firkus forced a Tigers turnover and was able to find an open Yager who beat the goalie clean over the shoulder.

Yager’s second short handed tally would also wind up being the game winner for the Warriors.

After attempting to sneak a shot near side, Yager stayed with the play and was again found with no defenders around.

The Penguins prospect also recorded an assist in the Warriors’ hard-fought 4-3 win over the Tigers.

Since returning to the WHL, Yager has been a force with the Warriors picking up eight points (5G-3A) in just four games.

His five goals leads the Warriors on the season.
